I think hopefully one silver lining of the problem of counter-uas at the border is that developing even a partial set solutions should have really positive secondary effects for our ability to deal with drone threats in other situations, especially peer conflict.
The border offers essentially a low threat environment where we already have some developed infrastructure to iteratively test c-UAS technologies and tactics.
100%! We just got three confirmed drone kills with a laser, how cool is that!? I think big argument for why the U.S. should devote more attention to cUAS in Latin America is that it's an opportunity to test new systems under real-world conditions that are still relatively forgiving (the cartels are getting better at using drones, but they're still not that good)
Great piece! As someone who lives not too far from the U.S.-Mexico border, I wasn't aware of these incidents. I really liked how this piece sits at the cross-section of so many issues: border control, technology, and geopolitics. And I think I get the reference in the title :)

A great report! Thank you.
