About me
This blog is the result of years spent down research rabbit holes, and more than a few late-night conversations. It’s also a personal exercise in finally laying out some of the ideas I’ve thought about for too long without putting pen to paper.
In particular, I plan to focus my analysis mainly on defense and security issues in the Americas. Expect articles looking at organized crime, military procurement, and the role of the armed forces in society. The name of the blog is intended to evoke the concept of the Man on Horseback, the soldier-politician who casts an especially long shadow over the Western Hemisphere.
I’m grateful that I get to research and write on the Americas at my day job too, but this blog is a purely personal project. All opinions and errors expressed here are mine alone and do not reflect those of my employer. If by some miracle you want to read more from me, check out my bio here.
